A total solar eclipse will occur on August 21 st shortly after 1:00 p.m. The school district has
purchased safety approved viewing glasses for all students and is planning to view the event.
Preschool students will not be participating because of safety reasons and their age. Looking at
the event without proper viewing glasses can cause eye damage even though our geographic
area won’t view a total eclipse…only a partial eclipse. Teachers will instruct students on the
danger of viewing the event without safety approved viewing glasses and supervise them
during the event.
Parents of all students who would like to view the event with their children should pick their
students up around 12:30 and return them at 1:45.
Any parent who doesn’t want their children to participate in the event, should notify their
building principal and arrangements will be made to keep them inside and supervised.
